Social media is full of hack videos – for beauty, fashion, food, even your house. But where do you draw the line, because some of these hacks go out of hand and are actually harmful?

There are some so-called beauty hacks to remove acne, fix dark spots, and give you magically flawless skin in an instant. People follow them blindly, and later regret it when they suffer from rashes, burns, or even scars. So rather than blindly following these DIYs, we compiled the hacks that you must avoid.

1. Baking soda causes excess exfoliation:

The granules of the baking soda look like granules used in facial scrubs, but in fact, these elements aren’t that good for our skin. Try to recall high school chemistry classes: the pH level of normal skin varies between 4.5 and 5.7. Instead, take cold water from the tap and heat it in a kettle and then consume.
