The literary and arts community of Pakistan has expressed disappointment over Shabana Azmi and husband Javed Akhtar cancelling their Karachi visit, in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack. Advertising Shabana and Javed sahab have always been seen as progressive people who have spoken out in favour of bettering Indo-Pak relations.So their reaction to the Pulwama incident has come as a surprise to the arts and literary community in Karachi, Omair Alavi, a well-known film critic, said.The Arts Council of Pakistan, on Saturday, said it regretted the two artistes decision.Arts Council president Ahmed Shah also expressed regrets over Akhtars comments. His comments do not seem appropriate for a literary person.Shabana Azmi on Friday said she and Javed Akhtar have decided not to attend Kaifi Azmis birth centenary celebrations in Karachi. The couple was invited to Pakistan by the Karachi Arts Council for a two-day event.

Earlier today, lyricist Javed Akhtar had announced that he along with his with his wife Shabana Azmi have cancelled their visit to Karachi amid Pulwama attack.
The couple was all set to visit the country for Kaifi Azmi Literary festival, which was scheduled to take place on February 24 and February 25, in Karachi.I am filled with pain and grief and all else .by the dastardly Pulwama attack .For the first time in all these years, I feel weakened in my belief that people to people contact can force the Establishment to do the right thing. Shabana Azmi shaken by Pulwama attack, says all cultural exchanges with Pakistan must stop

Shabana Azmi always believed the borders between the two warring nations India and Pakistan must not be sealed against cultural exchanges.

February 15, 2019Earlier in the day, a host of leaders condemned the attack and slammed Pakistan for harbouring terrorism. Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned the terror group responsible for the attack and vowed to avenge their death.
He said soldiers have been given full freedom to avenge the heinous attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama.Meanwhile, India has also revoked “Most Favoured Nation” status given to Pakistan to isolate it on the international platform.
The CRPF has also vowed to avenge the death the paramilitary forces who were killed in Thursday’s suicide bombing attack.”WE WILL NOT FORGET, WE WILL NOT FORGIVE: We salute our martyrs of Pulwama attack and stand with the families of our martyr brothers.
This heinous attack will be avenged,” it said.Several international leaders have also condemned the incident while the United States directly warned Pakistan to refrain from supporting terror outfits.
