Festival to showcase Sudbury’s dining culture

Hosts of a Sudbury podcast Flying for Flavour, which focuses on all things food, wine and travel, are now launching Flavourfest, a three-day culinary .
The crew at Flying for Flavour are inviting local restaurants and members of the community to satisfy their palate by hosting an event or volunteer their time to attract locals and tourists who are looking to get involved in Sudbury’s diverse dining culture. The festival will take place from March 1 to March 3.We really want this festival to become a signature culinary event in this city, at a time of year when most people are itching to get out of the house, said Stephanie Piche, food and wine expert and founder of Flying for Flavour.I’ve always had a motivation to get people to appreciate the restaurants, the diverse options that we have here in the city, and so my friends and co-hosts on the Flying for Flavour podcast were discussing it one day, saying that maybe we should have a big party or celebration. If you own or manage a restaurant, cafe or other foodservice business, or want to lend some time as a volunteer, this is your chance to get creative and show off a little.
It’s difficult for restaurants to get out their own usual routine, to get off site and do something special on top of their day-to-day business, so the best way to do it is for everyone to do what’s best for them, but maybe we can convince them to do it all on the same weekend, Piche said. So, from March 1 to March 3, businesses Adoro Oils Vinegars, Alibi Room, Banter and Coffee, Cedar Nest Decor Cafe, Cosscut Distillery, Fionn MacCool’s, From The Roots Holistic, Gluten Free Galore, Gus’ Restaurant, Hardrock 42 Gastropub, Kuppajo Espresso Bar, La Casa Mexicana, La Fromagerie, Lot 88 Steakhouse, Mucho Burrito, My Mother’s Place, Oscar’s Grill, PMs Kouzzina, Respect Is Burning Kitchen Bar, Salute Coffee Company, Taj Bistro, The Keg Steakhouse Bar, Toppers Pizza, Urban Cheese, Verdicchio Ristorante, will be participating in this culinary festival.Clarion Hotel, Garth Wunsch (photographer), Sudbury Theatre Centre, The Birch Box, Townplace Suites, and U Ride are offering specials or prizes that weekend to Flavourfest guests and participants.I’ve been approaching every restaurant or bar, every coffee shop, take out place, and we’re offering them that if they want to host an event we can put it all under the same umbrella and we can promote it to people outside of Sudbury to come in and spend an entire weekend, Piche said. Each restaurant or participating business will have their own special event or special menu planned for the weekend of March 1-3. Each event will be promoted on and the flavourvest.
