“I have always been in love with art,” Joseph Iava, who is the owner of ICJ Graphics said.
“I did art since I was very young, so it was a natural progression for me to have art and then to be a graphic designer. “I have my own business where I provide graphic designs.“My designs are pretty much based on my culture and my heritage from NCD.” Iava was present yesterday during launch of SP Brewery’s South Pacific Export Art Series 2019 following a nationwide design competition last year.From the 500 entries received during the competition, 22 wining designs from each province were selected. The winners received K 1000 each as prize money for their artwork.
Each winning design will be featured on the South Pacific Export Lager white can this year. The export can art series competition was part of export lager’s ‘best of PNG’ campaign with the objective to celebrate and promote PNG’s unique and varied cultures, art and its people.Marketing manager Josh Wheeler said from the 22 winning designs, the first five were launched yesterday. The art series designs are from NCD, which featured Iava’s design, Morobe, Northern, Eastern Highlands and East New Britain provinces.Wheeler said a second set of five export can art series designs would feature East Sepik, Central, Western Highlands, Madang and Enga.
